Aspire is a committed group of Christians drawn from various churches across the greater Birmingham area. We support the Chaplaincies in prisons around Birmingham by taking Sunday Chapel Services each month and also help by running Alpha Courses and other groups during the week. In the Chapel Services we use music, drama, poetry, storytelling and multimedia presentations to help communicate a message of hope to those in gaol.

Aspire began as a drama group called ‘Ambassadors’ working with ‘Prison Link‘, part of UEP based in Aston, Birmingham. Over time the membership evolved to include musicians and vocalists, extending the range of the group. During this period a distinctive approach and style of communicating the Christian gospel to those in prison began to be formulated and the name of the group changed to ‘GAP’.

Down the years the membership of the group has constantly turned over and so we always welcome new members, excited by the contribution they can make as they share their gifts and also the opportunity this creates to expand the work.

There are voluntary opportunities to help with delivering Chapel services as well as assisting with weekday evening activities such as Alpha or Guitar Group as well as those that haven’t been thought of yet! We also value the support of individuals and churches who pray for us. Please let us know if you would like to receive our email newsletter.
